Celebrate the kick off of Discovery Channel’s Shark Week with a coastline cleanup near you!
On Saturday, July 21, Discovery Channel is partnering with Ocean Conservancy to clean up beaches across the United States. Scientists estimate that more than 17 billion pounds (8 million metric tons) of plastic enters our ocean every year. Plastics in our ocean are a threat to marine life, from corals polyps to sharks. Over the past 32 years, Ocean Conservancy’s International Coastal Cleanup has brought together nearly 13 million people from 150 countries and counting to collect nearly 250 million pounds of trash along our coastlines and waterways.
Join us as we give back to our favorite finned friends and keep the waters they call home free of trash.
