Obscura Society NYC: Secrets & Highlights of the Livingston Masonic Library
Thursday, February 28, 2013 from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM (PST)
New York, NY
Whether you're a curious researcher or hardcore scholar, the Livingston Masonic Library is your first stop to find out what's behind the rituals and history of the Freemasons. The library is one of the largest known collections of Freemason resources and memorabilia, containing books on the history, rituals, and philosophy of the Freemasons, as well as artifacts and other key Masonic items.
While the library is open to the public, the stacks, which contain over 60,000 volumes, are closed to browsing, so books are brought out to researchers under a three-at-a-time limit. You don’t have to be a Mason to read books on site but you do need to be a Mason in good standing to borrow.
The Obscura Society is the real world exploration arm of Atlas Obscura.
