Event description

Description

Philadelphia has one of the highest obesity rates in the country. More than 68% of adults and 41% of children in Philadelphia are overweight or obese.

So how does obesity impact you? How does it impact your community?

Join Dr. David B. Sarwer, Associate Dean for Research and Director of the Center for Obesity Research and Education at Temple University’s College of Public Health, for a talk on obesity. Dr. Sarwer has over 20 years of experience in obesity treatment, focusing on lifestyle changes and medication therapy.

COME TO THE LECTURE AND:

  • Learn how to lead a healthy lifestyle and avoid the risks associated with obesity

  • Learn about how Body Mass Index (BMI) is calculated—a measurement of your weight relative to your height and a way to gauge risk for obesity-related diseases

  • Learn what your current BMI is and what that means for your health

  • Take handouts home to continue your learning after the lecture
