Oasis: Designing a LEED Campus in the Desert - Part 1
GBCI LEED SPECIFIC MOVIE! This course documents the design challenges for the Health Sciences Education Building in Arizona. Design team members discuss sustainable sites, integrated design process, energy models, copper cladding, and the LEED campus approach. Ultimately, the documentary explores how a harsh climate and community needs inspire and determine building design.
1. Articulate how the selection and development of a building’s site can support the health of the surrounding community, and name related Sustainable Sites credits 2. Identify positive outcomes of using the Integrated Design Process, a holistic approach to design and construction encouraged by LEED 3. Explain the LEED Campus approach and name credits in the LEED for New Construction rating system that can be achieved using this method 4. Discuss how envelope design is essential for Optimize Energy Performance (EAc1) and list some of the key components for a high-performing envelope 5. Differentiate between various types of energy models and the design parameters they establish in order to Optimize Energy Performance (EAc1), such as geometric shading and daylight optimization.
