Kids need a night out? Parents need a night off? Kid's Night Out/Parent’s Night Off is designed with both kids and adults in mind! We offer a safe, fun-filled environment where you can drop off your children knowing they will have a blast playing and learning about wildlife. We will feed them, take them on a behind the scenes night tour while also enjoying our annual holiday event ZooLights, meet animals up-close, make a craft, and end the night with a movie! We guarantee you will pick them up happier, smarter, and, exhausted! It's a win-win all ‘round!
Where exactly in the zoo will this program take place?
Pick-up and drop-off will take place in our Education Center in our Discovery Room, Classroom 4 located at the Lower Entrance of the zoo. Parking will be available at the lower entrance. There will be no parking fee since the program occurs after normal zoo hours.
What should we bring?
Please make sure your child has comfortable clothes and walking shoes. We will be touring the zoo outside, so please be conscious of the weather and season. You are welcome to bring pillows, blankets, or sleeping bags to use during the movie portion of the night.
Will there be food?
We will provide dinner, drinks, and snacks for your child. If there are other dietary concerns for your child, we are happy to serve a dinner that you provide. We do not have access to heating the food or refrigerating it.
Will there be animals?
Absolutely! We will see animals on exhibit, and have an animal close up, during which the children will be able to touch the animals.
Is there an age limit to enter the event?
Children must be at least 4 years old and must be potty trained. The program is geared to ages 4-10, but older siblings are welcome to come.
What movies are being shown?
Movies are typically themed to the event and family friendly, G or PG rated movies. Please inquire with the Reservations Associate as our titles sometimes change.
What if we are running late or need to pick up early?
We will be eating dinner in the classroom for the first half hour, so there is a 30 minute window for dropping off. If you are going to be more than 10 minutes after 6 pm we will most likely have already started our tour and you will need to wait approximately 1 hr until we return from tour. For pick up, a $5 late fee applies for every 15 minutes after the end of the program. You will also be given a staff person’s contact information in case you need to get a hold of us at any time.
What about early bedtime?
We do not have a sleeping area for early bedtime, but we will have pillows available for watching the movie in case the kids doze off during the showing. Kids may also bring their own pillows or sleeping bags to be comfortable during the movie.
Where can I contact the organizer with any questions?
Please call (510) 632-9525 x220 or email the Reservations Associate for any questions.
What is the refund policy?
Unfortunately, we are not able to offer refunds for cancellations. If you cannot attend, you are welcome to give your tickets to a friend as long as they mention your name as the registering adult.
What if we have a child or sibling that is under the age of 4?
Unfortunately, we cannot allow any children to attend under the age of 4 due to the duration of the program, physical demands when walking around the zoo, and will not have the education staff required to meet the minimum ration necessary for children of the age. If you purchase a ticket for a child under the age of 4 without our knolwedge, you will not be allowed to drop the child off and will not be refunded the amount paid for the program.
