Event Details

On Saturday June 22nd, Oakland Local and ForageSF are teaming up to teach you what’s edible in your local landscape.  These two and a half hour Wild Food Walks, led by “Feral Kevin”, will show you how to identify and harvest some of the wild edibles you see every day. This fun, easy walk is a great introduction to foraging, and will help you view the area where you live in a different way.

The Wild Food Walk is scheduled for Saturday, June 22nd at 11AM.

The Wild Food Walks Oakland Hills location, as well as details on your walk, will be sent after purchase.   Please provide an accurate email as the class info may change and we need to know that you received it! The Wild Food Walk location is not conveniently accessible by public transportation.

Remember this is a class/tour, not a guided trip. You are not allowed to fish or forage while the class is in session--even if you have a fishing license.

About Your Guide, Feral Kevin

Kevin Feinstein, also known as “Feral Kevin” is an author, teacher, forager, and naturalist residing in the Bay Area.  Author of “The Bay Area Forager” and “Crash Course in Wild Mushroom Foraging,” he has been teaching the wild food walks for ForageSF for over three years. With nearly a decade in the field, Kevin and his work have been featured in Time magazine, American Airlines In-Flight Magazine, SF Chronicle, The Travel Channel, KWMR, KPFA, The Examiner and several more.   An avid gardener, nutritionist, and self-proclaimed “plant nerd,” he loves getting emails with pictures of plants that need to be identified and he’s great at finding edible wild food--and showing you how to do the same.

ForageSF was started by Iso Rabins in the fall of 2008. As “not only for profit” business they’ve stuck to the mission of supporting the local food community through multiple projects: the Underground Market, the Wild Kitchen, and their new project, Forage Kitchen, the first co-working space for food. They mean to grow the local food economy by creating a community of support for small food businesses and creating jobs with respect that also help to push the food movement forward.
