Description

O U T POST Ed. 2 continues the series of thematic evening seminars organised by POST Design Festival.

MANIPULATIONS

In the age of fake news, misinformation and political divide, what role does visual communication play and what can we as designers, illustrators and artist do to counter these tendencies? How do our own conscious and subconscious biases influence our creative work and how can we strive to be more inclusive and open-minded in the work we do, for ourselves and others?

In this second edition of O U T POST we attempt to shed light on these issues through an evening of talks from three different perspectives. The evening concludes with an open panel discussion between the three speakers and the audience.

The ambition with O U T POST is to develop, enhance and spread the critical debate concerning the political, social and ethical aspects of illustration, digital and graphic design in the Nordic region and beyond.

Please meet the speakers:

Sara Andreasson is a Swedish illustrator, based in London. Working intersectionally with illustration for both big international clients and on self-initiated projects, Sara has a powerful aesthetics and always a political punch to her work. She will talk about breaking down body and gender stereotypes and manipulating the mainstream.

Kristoffer Ørum is an interdisciplinary artist, researcher and organiser based in Denmark. Through lectures, digital projects, exhibitions, interventions and teaching Ørum explores the complexity of the everyday in hopes of challenging existing systems of knowledge and technology through deliberate manipulations of these narratives.

Maia Kahlke Lorentzen is a tech-activist and academic within digital literacy and safety. For the last 10 years, she has been exploring the dark depths of digital culture, especially researching hate communities, trolling and online harassment. Maia is one of the founders of DO:TOPIA, a cyberfeminist collective organising workshops on cybersecurity, programming, hardware hacking and anti-troll defensive tactics.

O U T POST is kindly supported by the DANISH ARTS FOUNDATION.
