Event description

Description

AquaBots is a fun, hands-on educational programme integrating Science, Technology, Design, and Engineering.

What’s an AquaBot?

An AquaBot is a remotely operated underwater vehicle. It can have varying levels of sophistication which generates a broad appeal to children and youth. Students design and build an NZAquaBot from the supplied kit and develop skills in its operation. The programme culminates in an regional or national event. See an aquabot in action here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OFhYNZBgW9Y

Who takes part?

Teams of up to 6 members are formed from all school levels, or within other groups such as Sea Scouts or Youth groups. Students may be from Years 6 to 13.

NZAquaBots programme inspires students and helps discover the next generation of Kiwi scientists and engineers while introducing potential maritime and robotics careers.

This event is FREE with purchase of an NZAquaBot kit. If you purchased a kit in previous years you may use it again as long as it is structurally modified, but must pay a $20 competition entry fee.

Theme and details of the 2017 Competition will be released in the next few months.
