Event Details

On Monday October 10, 6-8 P.M., New York Women Social Entrepreneurs (NYWSE) invites you to the NYWSE "How she does it" Dinner Series featuring guest speaker Amanda Hofman, Founder and CEO of Urban Girl Squad in NYC.

Join us as Amanda shares her vision on women creating sustainable relationships and interviews Clare Ondrey, an Urban Girl Squad member and social intrapreneur at Greentech Media Company, about different relationship-building best practices that helped Clare reach personal and career goals in sustainability.

About Amanda Hofman

Amanda Hofman, Founder & CEO of Urban Girl SquadFrom her days as a resident assistant at Barnard College, Amanda learned that strong female friendships are the key to a fulfilling and exciting life. Making new friends in NYC can be tough, so Amanda set out to change that. With her own network of friends as inspiration, Amanda created Urban Girl Squad. It was a perfect fit, since Amanda lives to connect people with whatever they need: friends, jobs, websites, information, you name it.

Before founding Urban Girl Squad in 2008, Amanda used her degree in economics to land jobs with Kaplan Test Prep & Admissions and Columbia Business School as a data analyst and market researcher. Data mining and event planning are more similar than they appear: instead of minding minutia like decimal points and commas, she now learns on the names and faces of all the women she meets -- and organizes pitch perfect events to help them develop a network of new friends in the city.

When Amanda isn't organizing events -- when is that, exactly? -- she runs a knitting group, reads vampire novels, and has a glass (OK, glasses) of wine with friends on a regular basis. She loves to dance at weddings, bedazzle anything, and improve her downward-facing dog while watching reality TV. Amanda is married to a scientist and lives on the Upper West Side of Manhattan.

EVENT HOST
Smorgas Chef Restaurants serves fresh Scandinavian food based on centuries of Danish, Norwegian, and Swedish culinary traditions. The first location was established on historic Stone Street in the Financial District as a modest sandwich shop, which grew into a full-service restaurant and bar. As its popularity grew in the city, Smorgas Chef added 2 more locations, one in the West Village, and one on Park Avenue in the Scandinavia House Cultural Center. Most recently, Smorgas Chef opened its fourth restaurant - Crepes Du Nord, a French-Scandinavian Creperie on South William Street in the Financial District. Scandinavian cooking, with its focus on fresh unprocessed ingredients, vibrant herbs and delicate flavors, is gaining more attention around the world. Unique ingredients from Scandinavia such as cloudberries, herring, and lingonberries are regularly featured on Smorgas Chef’s seasonally driven menu.
