Please join us in Washington, D.C., on October 18-19 for the NYEC Annual Forum. A joint session with the Opportunity Youth Network (OYN) on the afternoon of Tuesday, October 18, will cover key federal policy issues, such as WIOA implementation and the implications of a new presidential administration for youth employment. A day-long session on Wednesday, October 19, will focus on lifting up emerging and proven practices in the youth workforce development field, solving real challenges faced by NYEC members, and exploring how best to help opportunity youth achieve their potential.

Input from NYEC members has driven the creation of a highly interactive agenda with a range of sessions touching on popular topics, such as trauma-informed care; setting opportunity youth on career pathways; and finding common ground between youth development and meeting employer needs. David Johns, Executive Director of the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for African Americans, will open the Forum. Forum participants also will have the opportunity to weigh on what NYEC's federal policy agenda should be as we approach the beginning of a new Congress and presidential administration.

We are pleased to announce three Partner Sponsors of the Forum: Heartland Alliance, the National League of Cities Reengagement Network, and the National Skills Coalition. If your organization would like to become a sponsor of the Forum, see more information on sponsorship levels here, and contact Kate O'Sullivan (kateosullivanUS@yahoo.com) to learn more.

NYEC attendees have the opportunity to participate in the high-profile Opportunity Youth Network (OYN) Annual Summit on October 17-18, also at the Hamilton Hotel. Please register ASAP if you are interested in attending the OYN meeting. Those who indicate interest via NYEC's registration will receive an invitation to the OYN Summit, as long space exists. You will be responsible for registering for the OYN Summit separately after you receive the invitation.

Kayak.com and other travel sites show a number of hotels in the vicinity with rates around $300/night (NYEC's block rate was $269/night). We recommend identifying your hotel ASAP as lower rates go quickly. The Hamilton is walking distance from two Metrorail stations: McPherson Square (orange/blue lines; 5 min walk) and Metro Center (red and orange/blue lines; 10 min walk). If you have questions as you search for hotels please contact Thomas.showalter@nyec.org.

Attendees are responsible for covering their own travel costs and making arrangements for overnight stay.
