Increasingly, the best applications for consumers or enterprises are a product of not only technical science but, more importantly, art. Unique user interaction and experience design have become a staple ingredient to building a successful web or mobile application. Examples of companies started by talented designers-turned-entrepreneurs include AirBnB, Fab.com, Pinterest and Pulse, which recently sold to LinkedIn. New Enterprise Associates, a venture capital firm, created the NEA Studio, to incubate startups founded by designers.
