ABSTRACT

What’s a “moonshot” anyway? What did President Kennedy mean when he said that reaching the moon was a challenge “we are willing to accept” and “unwilling to postpone”? Join NYCx and the Mayor’s Office of the CTO on a journey through space and time to understand how New York City has tackled its Moonshot Challenges. Learn about the evolving approaches and methodologies New York City has used to deliver on the monumental goals Mayor de Blasio set out across broadband, climate action, and cybersecurity. In short, learn about why New York City is the space where the future comes to audition. Then, once you’ve got the Moonshot program down, embark on your own adventure by leveraging the NYCx Moonshot Launchpad to help the City’s key policymakers tackle their own moonshots. Join us for an interactive discussion, design session, and workshop on how the NYCx Moonshot program is bridging the gap between emerging technology and the public good.
