By New Women New Yorkers

Date and time

Thursday, May 26, 2016 · 6:30 - 8:30pm EDT

Location

La MaMa

47 Great Jones Street Studio 6, 6th Floor New York

Description

The rights of employees are protected by federal, state, and local laws, as well as by common law, for discriminatory or illegal behavior by their employers.

But how can you ensure that your rights are protected in the workplace?

During the first hour of our 3rd Meetup for NYC young women immigrants (we held our 1st Meetup back in November last year and our 2nd Meetup in February this year), a guest speaker from the NYC Commission on Human Rights will present the protections you're entitled to as an employee under the City and other anti-discrimination laws, and will answer any questions you might have.

The Meetup will also feature a 30min pitch showcase by a group of our LEAD graduates on topics on their choosing, and some time for networking and other activities.

Snacks & soft drinks will be served.

Doors will open at 6:15pm, and the Meetup will start promptly at 6:30pm - Please be on time!

The event is open to all our LEAD graduates and current participants, and to any other young women immigrants (16-35 years old) who would be interested in joining our community, and in learning more about the LEAD program.

Space is limited, RSVP as soon as possible!
