Event description

Description

The 28th Annual New York City Mathematics Project Annual Conference, "Igniting Mathematical Sparks" is scheduled for Saturday, October 27, 2018. The day will begin with a complimentary breakfast at 8:00 AM. Our Conference features outstanding speakers, thought-provoking sessions, and opportunities to share, network, and collaborate with other educators. Engage in classroom activities and ideas to support standards-based lessons to provide outstanding mathematics instruction for all students. Meet with exhibitors to learn about the innovative programs, resources and math activities. Attendees will receive a CTLE certificate for 5 hours.

We welcome Suzy Koontz as this year's keynote speaker. Suzy Koontz is the Founder and CEO of Learn Thru Movement, an actuary, an educational consultant, a math teacher, and the creator of Math & Movement, Movement & Literacy and over 150 kinesthetic teaching tools.

"Creating a Culture of Math Literate Yaysayers"

Implementing brain-based strategies are key to tackling the school-wide culture of “math-naysayers” and converting it to a culture of “I can learn math” or “math-yaysayers.” Suzy Koontz will share about her travels across the country to bring positive thinking and very fun, rigorous, intentional math practice into our schools. We invite you to join our Math-YAYSAYERS movement!
