SPEAKER BIOS

Peter Schrappen: Peter Schrappen serves as NMTA’s Vice President. Peter recently became a Certified Association Executive, which is an important distinction in the association world. He’s spent the last 18 years working on campaigns or lobbying elected officials. Peter’s a middle child which means he’s been lobbying for attention his entire life!

Carl Blackwell: Carl Blackwell joined the National Marine Manufacturers Association as Chief Marketing Officer in September, 2003. Blackwell oversees all association marketing and communication efforts including boat shows. In July 2011, Carl was appointed President of Grow Boating, Inc., which produces the industry-funded Discover Boating Campaign, and as Chief Marketing Officer / Senior Vice President of Marketing & Communications for NMMA.

Brad Parker: Brad leads the newest division at Boats Group, YachtCloser, the industry’s leading contracting and closing solution for brokers and dealers. What’s more, Brad founded the company while standing in line at the movies! Brad was a yacht broker at the time, and having received an offer on a boat, he quickly realized that there were no tools to create, send and sign a brokerage contract while out of the office. And so, YachtCloser was born and now provides the most accessible and robust transaction and administrative tools available in the boating industry. YachtCloser joined the Boats Group portfolio of brands in January 2017.

Courtney Chalmers: Courtney leads branding, buzz and all that is marketing at Boats Group, overseeing product marketing, digital marketing and channel marketing teams. She modernizes the function of marketing through strategic management of people, technology and data. A creative problem solver and strategic thinker, Courtney has 18 years of experience in digital marketing and brand management. She has worked within the recreational boating industry for over a decade as Boat Trader’s Brand Manager before transitioning to Dominion Marine Media (now Boats Group) as Director of Marketing to lead the global marketing strategy for YachtWorld, Boat Trader and boats.com.

George Price: As Assistant Administrator with the Department of Licensing, George is responsible for, in part, the headquarters Vehicle and Vessel Licensing team. They provide analysis on vehicle and vessel legislation, policy direction, statute and rule interpretation, and are the experts in Special and Personalized Plates; Sellers, Wreckers, and Abandoned and Totaled Vehicles; and Refunds and Title Services. They also serve as the conduit for several agencies, including the Coast Guard, enforcing the Code of Federal Regulations. Prior to this, George served as the department’s Vehicle and Vessel Policy and Legislative Analyst where he drafted and reviewed legislation, implemented vehicle and vessel legislation, facilitated working groups, and worked with various stakeholder groups.
