On Thursday, May 2ndNYA Art center in TriBeCa will debut is seasonal art fair: NYAFAIR. TRIBECAS 1st Art Fair, Conceived as a response to Frieze and New York Art Week, the gallery will present an alternative art fair featuring a panoply of works in media ranging from sculpture to paintings to works on paper. The fair will run from May 2ndto May 5th.Artists, curators, and dealers will showcase a select number of works in the fair booths within NYA Art centers Tribeca venue which is a 9000 sq ft, 3 level center with 6 large premier galleries, 11 fair booths and 2000 sq ft of fine art storage which consists of a permanent collection with focus on the importance of the arts in schools and hospitals.
The opening of the fair will coincide with three other gallery exhibitions and related receptions that are scheduled to open during the first week of May in the art center. Visitors to the fair will be able to take advantage of seeing Gallery 104’s Nurtureexhibition and NYA Gallery’s Healshow—exhibits that probe individuals’ understanding of healing and development in the bodily, environmental, and spiritual sense. What’s more, a special solo exhibition dedicated to the dancer and painter Gene Myers (1929-2013) will be on display in one of the art centers larger spaces. Gene Myers: Abstract Meditations on the 14 Stations of the Crossincludes work on loan from the Mario Radosta Collection. The paschal exhibition focuses on the late artist’s interpretation and translation of the devotional exercise common in several Christian denominations. With this robust schedule of cultural programming slated for the first week of May, NYA Art center will be an important meeting point for creative practitioners, buyers, critics, and art admirers during one of New York’s most important weeks for the exhibition and sale of contemporary art. Following the close of these receptions on May 2nd, patrons are invited to an after-party at the nearby Roxy Hotel located between Walker and White Streets on 6th Avenue, which is part of NYA Art center’s recurring 1st Thursdays art walk initiative.
