Description

Fire service icon Chief Bobby Halton will be presenting at the LDI Open Session on October 23rd starting at 6:30 p.m. You do not want to miss this opportunity to hear from the man himself whose legendary talks at FDIC have an auditorium full of firefighters ready to storm the gate! This will be a singular chance for the NOVA region as he presents and passes on his wisdom to our members directly. His decades of work to educate and train the American fire service and ensure a higher level of professionalization for us all are a legacy to learn from. You will takeaway a vision of what our profession can be and be able to use that motivation as you lead wherever you are. Immediately following there will be a social where we can all share in Brother and Sisterhood with firefighters from throughout the region. See you there!!

Fire Chief Bobby Halton is currently Vice President, Education Director/Group Editor for the Clarion Fire Rescue Group. In this role, Bobby leads the content and education for the Fire & EMS group whether in print, in person or online. This group includes Fire Engineering, Fire Rescue, Firefighter Nation, Fire Apparatus and Emergency Equipment and The Journal of Emergency Medical Services magazines. Bobby is the editor in chief of Fire Engineering magazine and education director of the Fire Department Instructors Conference (FDIC) and EMS Today.

Chief Halton began his career in structural firefighting with the Albuquerque Fire Department and rose through the ranks to include chief of training. Prior to that he served with several volunteer FD’s and the US Forest Service. Bobby was chief of operations at his retirement from Albuquerque in 2004. He then became chief of the Coppell (TX) Fire Department, Bobby left Coppell to assume the duties as editor in chief of Fire Engineering Magazine.

Chief Halton is a graduate of the University of New Mexico, left a member in good standing with the International Association of Fire Fighters, was a member of the International Association of Fire Chiefs, and has served on several of the National Fire Protection Association technical committees. He is active with the National Fallen Firefighters the Congressional Fire Services Institute and the Firefighters Cancer Support Network. He has done extensive speaking and training for the fire service and the US Department of State in the United States and internationally.
