Event description

Description

Whether you are actively homeschooling or are just curious about regulations, policies, and procedures, you are invited to attend Nuts and Bolts of Homeschooling in Massachusetts. The free program will be held in Arlington, MA on Thursday, August 23, 2018, 7:00 - 8:30 PM. Precise location will be sent when you register.

This presentation will cover Massachusetts homeschool guidelines; the history of homeschooling in MA; writing your education plan; choosing a form of evaluation; and local homeschool policies. Informational handouts will be available and there will be plenty of time for questions and discussion.

The program will be presented by Milva McDonald and Tracy Barsamian Ventola. Milva is a founder of Advocates for Home Education in Massachusetts, Inc. (AHEM), a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable educational organization that gathers and disseminates information about homeschooling in Massachusetts through education, advocacy, and events. She is also the author of a fictional book featuring homeschoolers, Unschoolers, as well as the non-fiction book Slow Homeschooling. Tracy is on the board of AHEM and a former elementary school teacher now homeschooling her two children. More info on AHEM here: www.AHEM.info.

Cost is $15/person to reserve your spot; the full price will be refunded to you after the meeting, making your participation FREE. If you don't show up, your money will be donated to support the non-profit mission of AHEM. No refunds except those made to attendees after the workshop on August 23rd.

Space is limited and spots are allotted on a first come, first served basis.

Participants will be added to the Friends of AHEM list unless they specifically opt out. Friends of AHEM keep abreast of legislative and other issues that affect Massachusetts homeschoolers via a low volume announcement-only email list. Friends of AHEM get special notice of AHEM events. This is a free service. AHEM respects your privacy and will not share your name or contact information with any other organization.

Please respect AHEM’s mission to empower individuals through education by not soliciting for your business at this event.

IMPORTANT: If you sign up for this event, please do your best to attend. Remember:

  • When you sign up, you are reserving a spot that then cannot be given to someone else.
  • If you sign up and do not show up, AHEM reserves the right to no longer treat your reservation request on a first come, first served basis for future AHEM events, only assigning you a spot should there be room after the deadline has been met.
