Event Objectives


Participants will be able to:

  • Define Literacy and Health Literacy.
  • Discussprevalence of low literacy and low health literacy in Kentucky and U.S.
  • Describe practical steps to improve health communication.
  • Identify strategies to make health information and services easier to understand and act on.
  •  Individualize teaching strategies to meet the literacy level and preferred learning styles of patients and families.
  • Employ evidence-based strategies designed to improve communication with patients and families.
