Description

See the top teams emerging from the University of Chicago campus this year in FinTech and connect with others interested in FinTech. The numo FinTech Challenge will award prizes totaling over $15k following a public pitch competition featuring 8 student teams the night of January 25. The finals will culminate a months-long process of team building, mentoring, and early FinTech support activities. There will be a networking reception at the culmination of the event. FinTech is one of the hottest topics in entrepreneurship on campus this school year. Learn more about Polsky’s work to support FinTech.

Cryptoclerk is a one-stop financial planning and budgeting platform that helps users maintain visibility across all sources of wealth including cryptocurrency wallets, roboadvised portfolios and many platforms that power the new age of finance while still helping users keep track of bank and credit card transactions.

Inked
Team members: Disha Malik, Matthew Robinson

Inked is an end-to-end financial contract negotiation platform, designed with bankers and CFOs in mind. By using natural language processing and machine learning, Inked optimizes the process by which bankers and borrowers can issue corporate bonds.

Invert
Team members: Alex Upton, Annabelle Zhang

Invert is a platform for communities to pool money to save and invest in a low risk environment. The platform will incentivize repeatable, small-dollar investments with long horizons to encourage users to build wealth through committing to investing, and not withdrawing, money into high quality, diversified securities investments.

Kaoshi

Kaoshi is a decentralized, peer-to-peer currency exchange marketplace. The exchanges of currencies are insured via a smart-contract escrow on the blockchain. It leverages the decentralization and frugality of the blockchain to disintermediate the currency exchange, thus accomplishing a fast and low-cost money transfer, compared to present remittance experience.

Pasion Loans

Pasion Loans leverages a new loan repayment structure utilizing the stock market to help people pay off loans faster

Seedling
Team members: Dana Cahan, Evan Hunter, Mrinmayee Patil, Jordan Prince

Seedling is a financial services platform connecting the un- and under-banked with banks and retailers by redirecting existing gambling behaviors towards savings using kiosk based prize linked savings accounts.

Vest Blockchain
Team members: Thomas Funk, Meenakshi Lakshmanan, Anuraag Tripathi

Vest Blockchain will make 401(k) transfers seamless for retirement providers. By logging participant data electronically and in a distributed ledger, our infrastructure would simplify and expedite the 401(k) transfer process: increasing participant accounts by an estimated $4.56T over 25 years and decreasing administration time from 120 days to 31.
