The NTEPS group was founded by members of the oil and gas production, drillers, owners, transportation and services industry and OSHA as a way to provide a network of safety individuals in the industry to share best practices and pass along training and information.

Speaker 1: Joe Avila
The topic of the presentation will be Slip, Trip and Fall Hazards in the Field Gas Compressor Industry.
It will include recent statistics, basic OSHA requirements, common challenges faced by workers and direct/indirect results of these hazards, as well as solutions. A new industry standard being developed by the Gas Machinery Research Council, in cooperation with the Gas Compressor Association, will bring much-needed guidance to many involved in upstream gas compressor safety efforts.
Joe Avila is a Health, Safety and Environmental Supervisor at J-W Power Company, with just over 20 years of experience in various safety and regulatory compliance positions. J-W Power is an industry leader in the leasing, sales and servicing of natural gas compression equipment, operating the largest privately-owned compressor fleet in the United States, with compressors ranging in size from 18 to 1,775 horsepower. Joe holds a BS in Industrial Safety from the University of Texas, and an AAS in Environmental Health & Safety from Texas State Technical College. He lives in Fort Worth, having been based in the Barnett Shale since 2005.
