Event description
How Molecular Imaging Can Improve the Clinical Translation of Novel Cancer Therapies, with Dr. Kimberly Brewer

About this Event

Title: How Molecular Imaging Can Improve the Clinical Translation of Novel Cancer Therapies

Presenter: Kimberly D. Brewer, Ph.D, Scientist, BIOTIC, NSHA & IWK Assistant Professor, Departments of Diagnostic Radiology, Microbiology & Immunology, Physics & Atmospheric Science and the School of Biomedical Engineering, Dalhousie University

About this presentation: Molecular imaging techniques such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and positron emission tomography (PET) can be used to study a number of biological processes. Importantly, they can yield a lot of information about the mechanism of action of novel cancer therapies. This talk will discuss how molecular imaging can be used to better understand novel cancer therapies and improve their clinical translation and implementation. In particular I will discuss how our collaboration with the pharma company IMV Inc. has used molecular imaging to evaluate the cancer immunotherapy DPX and improve its application for clinical trials.

There are three ways to attend:

(ALL attendees including Skype/phone must procure a free ticket)

    • Best: In Person : 1st floor Bethune Building Ballroom
    • Alternative: Skype for Business. Link to be sent withing 24 hrs to all confirmed ticket holders. *please note that Skype often comes with technical issues outside of our control, despite our success with pre-broadcast quality tests*

*Attendees are invited to stay after the presentation to network, mingle and make new connections

About Innovation Rounds: Innovation Rounds brings people together to learn, support, encourage, and discuss innovative ideas and solutions for health and the health care system and to facilitate relationships between health researchers, commercial partners, students, health centre foundations and others. This monthly series is open to the research community throughout Atlantic Canada and is sponsored by the office of Research Development, NSHA and IWK; Innovacorp Enterprise Centre; and Dalhousie Industry Liaison and Innovation Office. If you are interested in presenting, have comments or suggestions, Please get in touch with us at researchdevelopment@nshealth.ca
