Description

The Scholars Reception is an Annual Event held to support students pursuing degrees in higher education in engineering and other areas of STEM. The reception is an important networking event for students, NSBE members, and the corporate community. It is an occasion to discover new friendships, and career opportunities. Most importantly, it is an event to highlight some of our future leaders and inventors, and recognize our key supporters.


Reception Speaker Rosalind Fox,

Factory Manager, John Deere Des Moines Works


Ms. Fox is responsible for all aspects of the Des Moines Works operations in Ankeny, Iowa including safety, quality, delivery, efficiency, and overall profitability. The factory sits on 450 acres, with 3 million sq. feet (70 acres) of manufacturing space, and employs 1,300 people. John Deere, a fortune 500 company founded in 1837, employs nearly 60,000 people globally and generated $26.5 billion in 2016.Rosalind is the first black female factory manager in the company’s history. She is also a key member of the leadership team supporting the Nutrient Application, Tillage, Grain, and Cotton Product Lines with keen focus on achieving the company’s global growth ambitions.

Prior to Deere & Company, Rosalind spent six years at Ford Motor Company and held positions in Product Development, Manufacturing Engineering, and Business Planning. Prior to Ford Motor Company, Rosalind worked for 3M Company in Chicago, IL.

Rosalind graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and a Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering, from the University of Missouri at Columbia. She later completed her Executive MBA from Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. She was recently ranked as one of the Top 26 Powerful Women Engineers by Business Insider. In 2015, she was awarded the Prism Award by the Society of Women in Engineering and 2013 STEP Award Honoree for Women in Manufacturing.

Rosalind is originally from St. Louis, Missouri. She is married and has four step-children. Over the course of her career, Rosalind has lived in eight different states and three different countries. Her love of traveling has taken her to 80 cities in over 20 different countries. Rosalind closely follows Mizzou Tigers and Detroit Lions football, loves Broadway, music concerts, and comedies.
