NSANZ SPEAKER CAFE -- EXPERTISE; HOW DO YOU BECOME "EDDIE-THE-EXPERT"?

In this monthly Auckland Chapter Speaker Cafe, we will be exploring the topic of Expertise.

You are a thought leader and there is a strong probability that you want to use your expertise to help others to truly excel. Then you're at the right place at the right time!

At National Speakers Association of New Zealand (NSANZ), our purpose is helping others to truly excel.  And we do this by focussing on the 4 x E's of the Speaking Business:
  1. Eloquence
  2. Enterprise
  3. Ethics
  4. Expertise

This month's focus will be on Expertise.

Everyone loses when speakers run over their allocated time. As a professional speaker, it is up to us to make sure that we are respectful of all the others who are speaking after us or are in the audience.

But as an expert on your topic, you have sooooooo much information that you don’t seem to have the time to fit it all in. If you were an MC, it’s up to you to rein them in.

In this session, we will explore the ways that we can create a niche for ourselves and our expertise. We will look at:

  • How to differentiate yourself from the crowd
  • What does it take to become an expert
  • Where are you doing your research
  • How do you get your message out there
  • The Do’s and Don’ts with your videos

And many more topics….

Oh, and in case you were wondering, here are “7 Ways to Stop Speakers from Going Overtime” as identified by Neen James (http://www.meetingsnet.com/speakers-entertainment/7-ways-stop-speakers-going-overtime)

  1. Use a professional emcee who is responsible for meeting flow and timing.
  2. Ask the emcee to brief every speaker on what will happen if they go overtime.
  3. Instruct the AV crew to silence the microphones if someone goes over the allocated time.
  4. Ask the AV crew to start playing music... hey it works at the Oscars!
  5. Use a timer the speaker can see.
  6. Use a timer the audience can see. (This is controversial and powerful for short talks.)
  7. Walk on stage and asking your audience to give the speaker a round of applause—yes, even if they aren’t finished.

If you are an aspiring speaker, a professional speaker or anywhere inbetween on your journey to get there, this session will equip you with tips and practical advice on making your time on the stage memorable and impacting.

If you have any issues booking your ticket please contact the NSANZ Secretrary at secretary@nationalspeakers.org.nz
