Renowned astrophysicist and best-selling author Mario Livio takes part in a conversation about curiosity and creativity, following the release of his new book, Why? What Makes Us Curious. A philosophical thinker whose inquiry often explores the intersection of science and art, he has appeared on The Daily Show, 60 Minutes, and NOVA. A Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, Dr. Livio worked on the Hubble Space Telescope for more than two decades — pioneering work that inspired composer Paola Prestini to create The Hubble Cantata, an ambitious piece featuring large musical forces and a VR film to tell the story of the birth, life, and death of a star. His books about mathematics and physics include the bestsellers The Golden Ratio and Brilliant Blunders, in which he sets out “to correct the impression scientific breakthroughs are purely success stories. . . . The road to triumph [is] paved with blunders.”
