Please join your hosts and partners from NRCS for one of our last field trips this year! NRCS is hosting a Farms, Forestry and Wetlands, and Wildlife Conservation Tour!

We encourage hiking boots or good trail foot wear! We may have to plan a few strategic bath room stops! Bring a bag lunch and if you wish community snacks to share.

A reschedule date will be announced only if a very unlikely serious gully washer rain event is forecast on September 22nd!

Your itinerary is:

9:15 - 9:30 am Meet at Saco Corridor Commission Office parking lot (if the meeting place changes, I will inform everyone on the tour).

9:30 am. - Depart for Highland Farms (large scale Cropland, Dairy and Forestry Farm - Cornish, ME - 9:35 am arrival, (Agricultural Waste Storage Facility, Compost Facility, Conservation Crop Rotations, Forestry Practices, Nutrient Management) meet some of the Cows and Family Farm members and enjoy one of the most fantastic scenic farm views in America!

10:45 am. - Depart for Brownfield, ME (via route 25/160) – Off Porter Road, Fish Passage Project, Road and blockage removal, 11:15 am - 11:30 am (This will involve a short walk in through the landowner’s gate, because he won’t be on site.)

11:30 am - Depart for Brownfield Bog WMA- Wetlands & Wildlife observation and bag lunch stop.

11:45 am - 12:45 p.m. (Partner networking opportunity)

12:45 p.m. - Departure to Fryeburg, visit at Elbridge Russell woodlot (off Rt. 302). Forest stand improvement, forest trails, upland wildlife habitat management, and Wetland Reserve program ditch plugs.

Travel to Saco Corridor Commission parking lot, arrival time about 3:00 pm.
