This 2-day, 14-hour course course teaches the students the knowledge, skills and attitude essential for avoiding dangerous confrontations and for the safe, effective and responsible use of a concealed pistol for self-defense outside the home. This course is divided into two levels, basic and advanced. Level one is a nine hour course and offers the essential knowledge and skills that must be mastered in order to carry, store, and use a firearm safely and effectively for personal protection outside the home. Upon completion of level one, students will attend level two, the advanced session, which is an additional five hours of classroom and range training and teaches advanced shooting skills. Students will receive the Basics of Personal Protection Outside the Home handbook, Course Examination, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure and the appropriate course completion certificate(s), NRA Basic Personal Protection Outside the Home (identifies strong-side hip holster or purse use) certificate and NRA Advanced Personal Protection Outside the Home certificate.
Note: The NRA Basics of Personal Protection Outside the Home participants must be at least 21 years of age and possess defensive pistol skills presented in the NRA Basics of Personal Protection in the Home Course.
Cost is $175 for non-members and $150 for club members. Members use gate code as promotional code to get the discount.
Class schedule: Saturday, February 25th from 8:00am to 5:00pm and Sunday, February, 26th from 1:00pm to 7:00pm.
Required materials: Pistol, owner's manual, 250 rounds of ammo, at least 2 magazines or speedloaders, strong side holster, concealment garment, eye and ear protection.
Suggested materials: Protection from the elements, note pad, highlighter and a pencil.
