This 8 hour course is to develop in the students the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude essential to the safe and efficient use of a handgun for the protection of self and family. Class will cover defensive shooting and handgun skills, the importance of using a firearm responsibly and ethically for personal protection, the four levels of awareness, the importance of mental preparation and physical firearm training for a potentially life-threatening confrontation, along with understanding the fundamentals of defensive marksmanship, the difference between cover and concealment, close range point shooting, use of a flash site picture, firearms and the law (possession, ownership, and the use of deadly force), strategies for home safety and responding to a violent confrontation, and selecting a handgun for self –defense. Students must have attended NRA Basic Pistol, similar class, or possess basic pistol handling skills.
Cost is $125 for non-members and $100 for club members. Members use gate code as promotional code to get the discount.
Class schedule: Saturday, January 21st from 8:00am to 5:00pm.
Required materials: Pistol, 100 rounds of ammo, 2 magazines or speedloaders, eye and ear protection.
Suggested materials: Protection from the elements, note pad, highlighter and a pencil.
