The process is very easy. Instructor Candidates are required to take a pre-qualification shoot and take the Online Basic Pistol Course Phase I prior to taking the Instructor Workshop. The shooting portion takes only a few minutes and the skill level required is novice. Once you qualify you will be required to take two days of classes if you have never been certified as an Instructor for the National Rifle Associate before and are not currently an instructor. Instructor candidates who are currently and NRA Certified Instructor will only be required to attend the second day of classes.
The first day is the Basic Instructor Training. This is the basic information that all instructors are required to learn. Topics cover the National Rifle Association’s policy for their instructors. The second day is discipline specific. In our class, you will be learning the Basic Pistol Instructor Course, so on the second day we teach you how to teach this course. Once you complete all requirements and pay your credential fees through the NRA you will become a certified Instructor for the National Rifle Association.
There are many benefits to becoming a National Rifle Association certified instructor. Not only can you instruct the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, 4-H, and many community organization; you can also teach the Concealed License course for almost every state in the USA. Being an instructor is a life giving and fulfilling career that goes wherever you go. Seeing the look on your first student that enjoys your class is a memory that lasts forever.
I hope to see you there and if you have any questions don’t hesitate to contact me.
