This approximate eight (8) hour course consists of Two (2) Evening Sessions of Four (4) hours each Session of the NRA Pistol Safety Course I.L.T. (Instructor Led Training) course that teaches the Basic Knowledge, Skills, and Attitude necessary for resposibile citizens to own and operate a firearm safel & effectively.
This course FULFILLS the Safety Training Requirements for PUTNAM, DUTCHESS & WESTCHESTER counties Pistol Permit Process on behalf of New York State (and also the other counties of NY State). It also satisifies requirements for Connecticut IN/OUT of State Pistol Permit.
This course is good for beginners with little or no experience, or those who want a refresher. We provide a comfortable learning experience for you to learn about firearms and firearm safety. We provide an interactive classroom learning experience on the safe operation and the "how to" handle revolvers, semi-automatics and/or rifles (other Class Requirements).
**PLEASE NOTE** for those students who do not possess a valid NY STATE Pistol Permit & due to limitations of the NY State SAFE Act, special arrangements for the LIVE FIRE segment of will be accommodated.
Students learn NRA's rules for safe gun handling; pistol parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; range rules; shooting from the bench rest position, and two handed standing positions; cleaning the pistol; and continued opportunities for skill development. Students will receive the NRA Guide to the Basics of Pistol Shooting & take a Basics of Pistol Shooting Student Examination.
