Description

Join Nashville Public Television on Monday, Oct. 29, for a special screening of James Beard, America’s First Foodie, an American Masters documentary. Following the screening, “master foodie” Mara Papatheodorou will moderate a Q&A with chef Jonathan Waxman and Beth Federici and Kathleen Squires, the film’s director/producer and co-producer. The evening includes canapés and cocktails inspired by James Beard’s menus, along with an appetizer by Butcher & Bee’s Bryan Weaver. The reception starts at 6 p.m., the screening at 7 p.m. and the Q&A at 8 p.m.

Tickets are $100 per person including fees (event only); $149.99 (event with James Beard DVD and Kathleen Squires’ Book of Greens cookbook) including fees. Proceeds from the event support NPT’s educational, cultural and civic programming.

James Beard (1903-1985) was a pioneering cookbook author, journalist, television celebrity and teacher. The prestigious James Beard Awards, considered the Oscars of the food industry, are awarded annually by his eponymous foundation.
