Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at 12:30 PM (EDT)
Washington, United States
Gary Pruitt, president and CEO of the Associated Press, will address a National Press Club luncheon on Wednesday, June 19. Pruitt will discuss “the unconstitutional seizure of AP phone records and the way forward.”
Pruitt has been an outspoken advocate for the rights of journalists in recent weeks after it became public that the U.S. Justice Department had subpoenaed two months of phone records from Associated Press reporters as part of a leak investigation. Pruitt said the seizure will have a chilling effect on journalism.
The luncheon begins at 12:30 with remarks starting at 1 p.m., followed by a question and answer session. The event ends at 2 p.m.
Tickets cost $21 for Press Club members (NPC members may buy two tickets at this price) and $35 for nonmembers. For questions, please call 202-662-7501 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. Tickets must be paid for at the time of purchase.
Club members who wish to attend the pre-luncheon reception must RSVP separately to VIPreception@press.org 48 hours before the event. Space may be limited. You must have a paid reservation for the luncheon to attend the VIP reception.
