Event description

Description

THIS IS AN OFFICIAL 2019 BROOKLYN BOOK FESTIVAL EVENT

Co-sponsored by the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) and Guernica magazine

This panel event features novelist Pitchaya Sudbanthad, artist Eve Mosher, New Yorker journalist Carolyn Kormann, NRDC policy expert Robert Moore, moderated by Guernica’s Amy Brady. Panelists will discuss how different kinds of storytelling challenge society's tepid response to climate change--specifically the threat of sea-level rise and flooding. They’ll address how interdisciplinary stories can harness the power of language and metaphor to inspire new ways of thinking, how narrative plays a role in climate-centered visual art, and how stories of all kinds can spark environmental change.

Cash bar opens at 6pm

Panel begins at 7pm

A Q&A with the audience will follow the moderated discussion.
