November Fabric Hacking Extravaganza (Part 1)
Thursday, November 7, 2013 from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM (EST)
On Thursday, November 7th, Jael Harrington will be teaching a workshop on sewing at LVL1!
This isn't the first workshop Jael has taught at LVL1: Back in June, she taught a very succesful workshop, and she's volunteered to come back and do it again! Jael has been sewing since the age of 7, and has been an unstopable force ever since.
Bring to this workshop a couple of yards of fabric that you like, one spool of thread, and a sewing machine (if you've got one!). No sewing machine? No problem! LVL1 has a couple of loaner machines, and Jael has a couple of her own, if you don't mind the possibility of sharing. Jael will be bringing a selection of patterns, but you're welcome to bring your own as well! Many craft stores around town sell the fabric, thread, and patterns all in one place.
Don't know a bobbin from a foot? No problem! All experience levels are welcome! Wouldn't know how to cut a pattern if your life depended on it? You can learn on November the 7th, at 7pm!
In case your project is a little ambitious, Jael will be back on November 14th, for even more Sewing Workshop Mayhem!
Bring to the workshop:
- Your Enthusiastic Selve
- 2-5 yards of fabric
- 1 spool of thread
- A sewing pattern (Optional, but encouraged)
- A sewing machine (Optional, but encouraged)
Take from the workshop:
- Soup-to-nuts knowledge of how to work your sewing machine
- How to work with patterns
- How to fix common sewing mistakes
- The item for which you obtained the pattern
When & Where
LVL1 is a Louisville hackerspace.
LVL1's mission is to provide a shared space for collaborative technical and artistic experimentation in the Louisville area. We are a non-profit organization following the hackerspace model currently flourishing in cities all over the world. Our goal is to create an open workspace where engineers, artists and educators can meet and collaborate. LVL1 is where we begin making amazing things.
