Photo: On Art Walk night guests get amazed at the presses.
The Los Angeles Times is opening its doors for an Art Walk tour of its Olympic Printing Plant, the largest newspaper plant in the United States.
On this free, hosted 1.5 hour tour you will see robots moving huge rolls of newprint and four-story Goss Colorliner presses in action, literally roaring and cranking out the next day's edition of The Times. This is one of the best production plant tours in the city, suitable for ages 7 and up. It has proven to be an amazing experience for all ages, and the tour fulfills a Scout requirement for merit badges.
Soft-soled shoes are recommended due to slippery footing in the pressroom. We are disabled-accessible. We provide free, secure parking in our lot. *Note: this is not The Times Building on 1st St.
Still photography is allowed, no taping of the tour please. Please allow time for traffic as the downtown area experiences congestion with concerts and sporting events.
