Description

"SPC Dashboards"

Overview: Steve Prevette will present an innovative marriage of Red / Yellow / Green Dashboard methodology with Statistical Process Control. Building upon Dr. Deming’s work, we will move away from target driven dashboards that react to random noise and miss significant trends, to a Dashboard that characterizes the performance data as stable and predictable versus having a trend, and whether the process is capable of supporting goals.

This method has been published by ASQ Quality Progress and the American Society of Safety Engineers, has been adopted by the Schlumberger safety department, and is in use at several Fluor nuclear projects, including Portsmouth Ohio and Canadian Nuclear Laboratories. Join us for a look at how to Manage Your Numbers, rather than Your Numbers Managing You.

About the Presenter: Steve Prevette is an advocate of Dr. Deming’s management methods and applies Statistical Process Control to performance metrics. One of his primary assignments is development and oversight of Contractor Assurance metrics efforts at the Chalk River Ontario site (Canadian Nuclear Laboratories). He has been active with ASQ since 1996. His home is in Graniteville SC, supporting Fluor Corporation’s Government Group. Steve is a past chair of Section 614 (Richland WA) and has maintained ties with that section since moving to South Carolina in 2009, serving as its current webmaster.

Steve started his career as a US Navy nuclear submarine officer. At the end of the Cold War, he left the Navy and was hired by Westinghouse Hanford as a Tank Farms Maintenance Supervisor. Steve was transferred to the desk job of running performance indicators in June 1993 and has fulfilled that function for various Department of Energy contractors ever since. He coordinates analysis efforts for Fluor Government Group sites at Portsmouth OH, Paducah KY, Savannah River Site, and Chalk River (Canadian Nuclear Laboratories). Steve is a member of Fluor Government Group Headquarters staff, and is developing a new SPC based scorecard for overall management of Fluor Government Group nuclear and non-nuclear work.
