Family Practice Class: Opening the Heart through the Buddha's Teachings

For Children Ages 0-13 and Family / Caregivers

Sunday, November 12th
10:00 am – 12:30 pm

East Bay Meditation Center
285 17th Street, Oakland, CA

We invite you to come and help create the diverse family sangha at EBMC. We welcome families with babies, toddlers, and children up to age 13. Children under 5 will need to have a parent/caregiver stay with them.

This class features training on “Family Tea Time” and how mindful practices can bind the family together. We will also explore how meditation and meditative movement can contribute to successful family life. Parents/caregivers and young people will meet together and separately during the class. We are committed to creating a diverse family sangha. No prior experience is necessary.

Please bring a snack (without nuts) to share.

For the past 25 years, Jenn Biehn has taught Tai Chi Chih (TCC) – Joy through Movement. TCC consists of 20 easy-to-learn accessible movements that emphasize a soft continuity of motion and can be practiced in silence or with guided visualizations. She has taught TCC to those healing from trauma in various community based organizations. At three month meditation retreat in 2013, Jenn adapted the movements to embody the Paramis and Brahma Viharas and has been delighted to share these at EBMC daylongs. Jenn loves including embodied awareness and healing movement in her life-long journey of building community.

Eve Decker performs and records original songs based on Buddhist teachings, leads dharma music singing circles, and presents daylong programs on dharma and music throughout Northern California. A Vipassana and Metta meditation practitioner for 20 years, Eve is a graduate of the Community Dharma Leaders and Path of Engagement programs at Spirit Rock Meditation Center. For more on Eve see www.evedecker.com.
