The idea of pacing a novel can be a daunting proposition: How do you ensure that your 90,000-word opus has everything that it needs and none of what it doesn't? And when so much is happening in the story, how do we even tell the difference?

Novels may have more room to develop characters, build worlds, and explore plot threads, but in order to be successful, all those elements have to be paced out in a way that captures your reader and doesn’t let go. This day-long workshop will focus on the techniques that help move novels forward and not get bogged down by unnecessary details, description, or superfluous narrative.
