Description

This is a 2-night CAMPOUT with the LA Lone Scouts to complete requirements for the Nova Technology START YOUR ENGINES Award...

This BSA STEM Nova module encourages Scouts to explore how technology affects our lives every day.

LA Lone Scouts and Friends will be soldering and working with wood to design and build a model vehicle powered by solar, wind, and/or battery...for Requirement #4.

FOR WHOM:

Scouts planning to earn the NOVA Technology Start-Your-Engines Award with the LA Lone Scouts must sign up for either ALPHA or BRAVO patrol.

All Scouts in ALPHA or BRAVO must be at least 12 years old by 08/15/19 who have already completed at least FOUR (4) of the following listed Merit Badges by 08/15/2019, regardless of rank or gender:

  • Aviation
  • Canoeing
  • Cycling
  • Drafting
  • Electricity
  • Energy
  • Farm Mechanics
  • Kayaking
  • Motor-boating
  • Nuclear Science
  • Programming

ALPHA + BRAVO PATROL SCOUTS NEED TO BRING THE FOLLOWING:

3) Pen + Proof for Earned Merit Badges for Requirement #2

4) Tent + Sleeping Bag + Sleeping Mat + Mess Kit + 10 Essentials + Towel + Swimming attire + Water shoes (shoes to get sandy/wet) + Sleeping attire + personal toiletries (toothbrush, toothpaste, hairbrush/comb, soap, lotion, sunscreen, chapstick) + Class A field uniform + flashlight/headlight/camp lantern with extra batteries + cooking equipment.*

5) BSA Medical Form Part A+B+C.

6) BRAVO Patrol will plan their own meals and bring their own cooking equipment + ingredients to camp.

7) ALPHA Patrol will be cooking together off the LA Lone Scouts‘ planned menu. Ingredients will be provided at camp.

CAMPING Merit Badge Requirements:

Requirement 9a) Camp a total of at least 20 nights at designated Scouting activities or events. Sleep each night under the sky or in a tent you have pitched.

NOTES - PLEASE READ CAREFULLY:

1) This is a SEMI drop off. All Scouts should be accompanied by a parent/adult leader or another Scout from same troop for this Campout, unless he/she is (a) 15-18 years old neurotypical, and/or (b) an Eagle-Scout.

2) Travel from wherever you are and the Cabrillo Youth Center in San Pedro is your responsibility.

3) Scouts can check in with Eventbrite Ticket in Class B or Class A with Nova Counselor on Friday 8/16 at 7pm for agenda.

4) Everyone is responsible for bringing their own tent + sleeping bag + sleeping mat + mess kit + personal items + swimming attire.

5) SIGN UP SCOUTS USING THEIR FIRST-and-LAST-NAME with Parent Email Address - one scout at a time.

6) Sign Up Adults (21+) with BSA Youth Protection Training using their First-and-Last-Name.

7) PLEASE TYPE YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS ACCURATELY. Please check the email address you use at least ONCE between APRIL 15 and JUNE 15, 2019, and ONE MORE TIME between JULY-15 and AUG-10, on behalf of Your Scout.
