The screening of this highly acclaimed, independent 1963 film is being presented by the Philadelphia Ethical Society to provide context for a discussion about racism in the Jim Crow South, the impact it had on a loving, intimate relationship and how film artistry can advance the discussion on race relations. Suggested $5.00 donation at the door will go to the POWER (Philadelphians Organized to Witness, Empower and Rebuild) Live Free Action Team to support their work on long overdue policing and incarceration reform. There will be a post film discussion. For more information about POWER, go to powerinterfaith.org. For more information on the Philadelphia Ethical Society, visit phillyethics.org.
