About this event

Join the Freshkills Park Alliance for a not-so-spooky clean up at our Visitor center. Help us lay our garden beds to rest by removing invasive species and planting Daffodil bulbs for the Daffodil project at our visitor center. NY4P’s Daffodil Project is the largest volunteer effort in NYC history and living memorial in remembrance of the victims of 9/11. Started in the spring following 9/11, the Daffodil Project is now in its 20th year.

Registration: Each ticket admits 1 car, containing up to 5 participants. During registration you will be asked about additional participants in your car.

Transportation: By registering for this event, you confirm you will provide your own transportation. Because the site is under construction, all participants must provide their own car that will stay on-site the whole time. Participants may not use a bicycle, taxi or ride-share service.

Location: We will meet in the LA Fitness parking lot (350 Wild Avenue, Staten Island NY 10314) before entering the Freshkills Park site together.

Gear: Wear a hat and sturdy shoes that you don’t mind getting wet or muddy. Please also bring water, a snack, and sunblock.

Technology: Feel free to take photos, but consider carefully before bringing any electronic devices with you as they may possibly get wet, damaged, or dropped during the program.

Restrictions: You will be asked to sign an activity waiver before participating in the program.

Cancellation: This tour will be canceled if registration is too low, or if there is a 60% or greater chance of rain on the day of the event. You will be asked to confirm your registration by email before the tour. As we receive cancellations, names will be added from the waitlist. If you know you will be unable to attend, please cancel your registration by email so we can fill the reservation. info@freshkillspark.org

Can't make it for Spring Cleaning?  You can still help by promoting our volunteer projects with your friends and neighbors. Students can receive credit for community service hours.  We will also be adding more volunteer opportunities as the season continues.
