Celebrate Halloween early by learning all about nature's creepiest creatures from the scientists who love them!
About this event
Bats! Rats! And snakes! This Halloween, EcoHealth Alliance is celebrating our spookiest brethren.
Did you know that we wouldn't have tequila without bats? Or that entire species of certain snakes and lizards are females who reproduce asexually? What about this: it's estimated that you're never more than 10 feet away from a spider? Come learn more about these often misunderstood animals from the EcoHealth Alliance scientists who've dedicated their lives to studying them:
- Evan Eskew, PhD, has studied reptile and amphibian ecology and will talk about all things slippery and scaly
- Kevin Olival, PhD, EcoHealth Alliance's resident bat enthusiast will talk about bat traits and behaviors and how they're really not that different from ourselves (except for the wings)
- Stephanie Martinez, MPH, will talk about the small things we can do to protect animals and prevent the spread of disease
