The Contra Costa Community College District presents this free one-day Summit to help students succeed with equitable no- and low-cost resources.


8:30 - 9:00: Registration and light Breakfast

11:00 - 11:50: Faculty Panel - Why and How they did it: Mini-presentations followed by a candid and interactive conversation with faculty OER users from Contra Costa and Los Rios Community College Districts.

11:50 - 12:00: Lightning Round - Sponsors present their products

12:00- 12:45: Lunch - Provided by Contra Costa Community College District and Prepared by DVC

12:45 - 1:45: Student Panel - Students from regional campuses discuss textbook-related struggles and attitudes on OER.

1:45 - 2:45: Breakout Workshops

  1. Discipline Collaborations: Work with faculty and librarians in your discipline along with OER experts to share, embed, curate or create OER. Lake Tahoe Community College OER expert Larry Green and others help facilitate.

Who is the intended audience for this event?

Teaching and Library Faculty, Staff, Administrators, and all who want to help students succeed. Those new to OER as well as those familiar and looking for more information or latest innovations are welcome.

What is the closest hotel to the event at Diablo Valley College (DVC)?

The Concord Hilton at 1970 Diamond Blvd., Concord, CA is the closest hotel, and is about 1 mile from Diablo Valley College. The Hilton provides a free shuttle to and from the Concord BART station for guests. Ph. 877-214-6722.

What are my transportation options for getting to and from the event?

Train: The closest Amtrak station for regional or Sacramento-area travelers is Martinez, with a $15-$20 Uber ride to the event or to the Concord Hilton.

Airport: The closest airport is Oakland International, about 30 miles southwest of the college.

Uber: An Uber from the Oakland Airport to Diablo Valley College runs about $50, and will take more than an hour if you are in afternoon commute traffic. If you are flying in the same day, a morning drive from the airport is against the commute and will cut the drive down to 40 minutes.

Public Transportation: Bay Area Rapid Transit runs trains from the Oakland or SF airports (and throughout the Bay Area) to the Concord BART station, which is 1 mile from the Concord Hilton and 2.5 miles from DVC. Please see the BART map for routes.

Where should I park once I arrive at Diablo Valley College?

Please use Parking Lot 8. The lots are clearly marked. It's right off of Golf Club Road. A map of the college along with a parking pass has been emailed to you separately.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

No. We can check you in by name at the registration table.

Your laptop, with links to any OER materials you want to share, and any questions you want to ask.
