Event description

Description

The North Texas Public Art Consortium Artist Training Workshop is a one-day intensive training for visual artists who are interested in working in the public art realm but have never done so before. All participants receive basic training in public art practice. Artists will be grouped into teams to develop a Mock Public Art project from responding to the call for artists, hearing community input, crafting a proposal, and appearing before a selection panel. Throughout the experience, artists will hear from engineers, artists, fabricators, safety professionals, and conservators to round out their understanding of what working in the public realm entails.

The training workshop is open to artists living in North Texas (residing in Collin, Dallas, Denton, Ellis, Grayson, Hunt, Johnson, Kaufman, Parker, Rockwall, Tarrant, and Wise Counties). Applicants should have an interest in exploring the presentation of their work in public settings and community-building or enhancing the extant environment. Must be 18 years of age and have an active studio practice.

Please note that attending a Training Workshop is a requirement for the Fort Worth Public Art Pre-Qualified Emerging Artist List.
