The North Reading Digital Learning team invites STEM/STEAM related businesses and industry to our first ever STEM/STEAM career summit. This is an opportunity to discuss career choices, skill requirements of people employed by the companies and presentations of their product or services.
Businesses that participate, will commit to at least 1-hour long presentation to middle and high school students. Optimally, businesses will commit a full 3 hours (9am-12pm on 12/9/16) of time to the event.
It is a suggested that businesses/companies provide multiple speakers from a variety of roles and can engage students in discussions around the knowledges required in their industry and their educational pathway.
Students entering the 21st-century workplace will face a career world unrecognizable to their parents. Many of the jobs they will pursue didn't exist ten years ago. The majority of high paying jobs will be in STEM/STEAM related fields. Some will require advanced degrees, but many will just require advanced training. One thing they all require though is a commitment to being the best at what you do. That is why it is critical for students to discover a career that gets them excited; one where they discover their passion.
