This month's highlighted influencer is Allen Mack, founder of the Living History Foundation (LHF), an Austin-based community organization.

Allen Mack is the founder of the Living History Foundation (LHF), an Austin-based community organization. Allen created the LHF to teach emerging young interpreters how to research and interpret the stories of people of color, women, persons with disabilities, and other marginalized groups.

Mr. Mack believes that in a country as great as this, no child should ever have to grow up wishing they were someone else because they lack knowledge of their ancestral roots. This quest was years in the making but gained traction when he became a volunteer interpreter with Texas Parks; Wildlife’s Buffalo Soldiers Heritage and Outreach Program. After three years as a volunteer, he started working at TPWD. He eventually became the Lead Ranger for the Buffalo Soldier Heritage & Outreach Department and worked there for six years.

Allen feels fortunate to have been allowed to work for the Texas Parks Wildlife Division (TPWD) and become the founder of the Living History Foundation. It allowed him to do what he loves most, sharing his passion for teaching about the great cultural heritage of Texas. Follow us on Facebook at www.Facebook.com/livinghistoryfoundation or visit our website at www.ourhist.org if you like to learn more about the Living History Foundation.
