June Section Lunch Meeting

Wednesday, June 19th, 2019

11:30 am - 1:00 pm

Topic Description: Making the case for Traffic Responsive Signal Coordination

Speaker Bio:

William “Bill” Crowl is an Associate Transportation Engineer for the County of Sacramento, Department of Transportation. For the past 26 years he has been involved locally with Traffic Signal Maintenance, Design, Operations, and Intelligent Transportation Systems including project conception, development, funding, implementation, and optimization. He is currently assigned to the Sacramento County Traffic Operations Center.
Originally trained as an aviation professional Bill eventually accepted that the aviation employment marketplace in the 1980’s was in a deep and persistent cyclical downturn. He left aviation and spent the next ten years in the tech sector working in defense, robotic equipment manufacturing, aerospace, and telecom before turning his focus to surface transportation in 1993. It is a true fact that Bill’s last employment engagement before joining the County of Sacramento 26 years ago involved hovering drones and flying cars.
With such an “eclectic” background it’s no surprise that Bill brings a unique perspective to transportation system management which he hopes to share with you today.
