Event description

Description

You’re invited to attend SocialVentures' Nonprofit Sustainability Showcase. On the evening of October 24, doors will open at 5:00 pm, and presentations will begin at 5:30 pm. Following the presentations (around 6:45 pm), the showcase portion of the event, as well as networking, appetizers and refreshments, will take place until the event ends at 8:00 pm.

This celebration will open with a keynote from Dan Graham, Owner of Notley Ventures and Co-Founder of the Center for Social Innovation in Austin, Texas. The Center for Social Innovation recently launched Philanthropitch, a social impact, fast-pitch competition that spotlights some of Austin’s most promising nonprofits and the innovative solutions they bring to local challenges. At the 2016 pitches, $140,000 was granted to eight innovative social impact organizations bringing the organization's total giving to $500,000.

Then, SocialVentures' 2017 Nonprofit Catalyst participants, including Center for Balanced Living, Equality Ohio, Rebuilding Together Columbus, US Together, and YMCA, will share their social enterprise concepts with the community. The showcase portion of the event will take place from 5:00 to 5:30 pm, and again following the presentations, to allow for ample networking and informal conversations with approximately 15 of Central Ohio's most successful, nonprofit-owned social enterprises, including Alvis, Community Shares of Mid Ohio, Equitas Health, Food for Good Thought, Furniture Bank, and Habitat for Humanity-MidOhio (more to be announced!). Attendees are encouraged to learn how they can support the efforts of these social enterprises to help sustain their nonprofit missions.

Nonprofit Catalyst is a social enterprise initiative presented by SocialVentures, feauring SE Catalyst by Cause Impact LLC, a Columbus-based consultancy. SE Catalyst is intended for nonprofit organizations positioned to develop sustainable, social enterprise ventures. SE Catalyst integrates a group cohort model approach with customized support for each individual participating organization. It combines classroom instruction with coaching, technical assistance, and the real-world application of tools, approaches, and principles to develop social enterprise ventures.
