Description

Please join Tina Reynolds of Uptown Studios and Margo Fowkes of OnTarget Consulting for a series of three workshops on nonprofit leadership best practices. All levels of nonprofit leaders are welcome.

Pass the Torch: Finding, Developing & Retaining Emerging Leaders - November 2

  • According to a 2011 national study on emerging leaders, one-third (32%) of the respondents aspire to be a CEO.

  • Of those, 40% are either ready now or will be within five years.

  • But only 4% of these next-generation leaders are explicitly being mentored and developed to be their organization’s next CEO.

Nonprofits are facing a leadership crisis as senior executives are expected to retire in record numbers in the coming decade, and emerging leaders aren’t getting the leadership development and mentoring they need to grow into these roles.

Doors open at 7:30 am; the program begins promptly at 8:00 am. Tickets are $25 and include a continental breakfast. Bring your business cards, ideas and questions for this interactive workshop. 30 people maximum.

Ready to Lead: Becoming a Nonprofit CEO - December 7

  • Do you want to be a nonprofit CEO but don’t know how to make the leap?

  • Are you a senior nonprofit leader who’s struggling with how to get the training and experience you need to be ready to lead a nonprofit?

  • Are you a new or relatively new nonprofit CEO, eager to do the best job possible, but unsure on how to do that?

Discover what kind of knowledge, skills, and experience you need to become a successful nonprofit CEO. Learn what other nonprofit CEOs did to prepare for the job. Find out how to build your network and engage a mentor who can help you achieve your dream.

Doors open at 7:30 am; the program begins promptly at 8:00 am. Tickets are $25 and include a continental breakfast. Bring your business cards, ideas and questions for this interactive workshop. 30 people maximum.

Finding a Unicorn: Diversifying Your Leaders & Why It Matters - January 11

  • In 2017, 90% of nonprofit CEOs and 84% of nonprofit board members report as Caucasian.

  • Since BoardSource began tracking diversity data in 1994, people of color and ethnic minorities have never represented more than 18% of board members.

  • In 2014, only 18% of nonprofit employees were people of color.

There’s a glaring disparity in nonprofit leadership, one that can make boards and CEOs feel as though recruiting for diversity is like trying to find mythical creatures. Learn effective strategies for recruiting and retaining a diverse workforce and board. Understand the benefits and advantages that come from having a variety of perspectives, backgrounds, and experiences on your team and on your board.

Doors open at 7:30 am; the program begins promptly at 8:00 am. Tickets are $25 and include a continental breakfast. Bring your business cards, ideas and questions for this interactive workshop. 30 people maximum.
