Recruiting and managing nonprofit board members is an ongoing process. For new nonprofits as well as existing organizations, the process can be challenging, overwhelming, and "clunky". Assumptions are made by both the nonprofit and the new board member and this results in disappointment and frustration. This training is designed to meet the information and training needs of nonprofit founders, current board members and those interested in serving on a board.
Michelle Nusum-Smith, owner and Principal Consultant at The Word Woman LLC, will lead an interactive training that includes:
The core roles and responsibilities of boards and board members
Who and how to recruit board members
How to get your board members to raise money
The benefits of a diverse board
An activity that simulates the group-think and problem solving of board members
Michelle will also provide tips for managing the relationship between staff and board members.
